Sound Nest, 2013

paper cups, spray foam, speakers, mics, custom sound software. 4 ft. x 4ft. x 3ft.

Performing as part of Biomimetic Kinetic Orchestra, Sound Nest is an assemblage of found objects forming a physical cluster of cells encrusting the wall, reminiscent of a wasp nest. Each cell functions as either a sound input or output. Digital sound software takes the audio input and uses an algorithm based on natural processes to decide the amount of delay to add and which channel (cell) to output the sound.
